A California district lawyer declined to file costs Tuesday towards former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a bodily altercation with one other passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Legal professional Steve Wagstaffe made the decision after having reviewed police experiences and videos of the April 20 incident. Each the passenger, who has not been identified, and Tyson requested that no costs be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Lawyer’s Workplace concluded its review of the case involving Mike Tyson at the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he committed a misdemeanor battery against another passenger on an airplane whereas ready on the terminal previous to departure," Wagstaffe said in a press release.

"Our determination is that we'll not file any fees against Mr. Tyson based mostly on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These embody the conduct of the sufferer main up to the incident, the interaction between Mr. Tyson and the victim, in addition to the requests of both the victim and Mr. Tyson that no fees be filed on this case," Wagstaffe mentioned.

The case is now closed.

Cellphone video confirmed Tyson, 55, showing to try to punch somebody who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson said the person was harassing Tyson. The video didn't show what occurred earlier than the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the decision to not file prices by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and regulation enforcement agencies "for their cautious, diligent, and professional work."
