SACRAMENTO, Calif. >> A suspect on the run since a mass capturing left six people lifeless during an alleged gang dispute in California’s capital city final month has been arrested in Las Vegas, authorities mentioned.

Investigators imagine Mtula Payton was one of the alleged gang members who opened hearth in downtown Sacramento on April 3. He was taken into custody at an condominium complex, the Sacramento Police Division stated in a press release Saturday night.

“Las Vegas Metro Police Division worked with our detectives for weeks in an effort to find Payton,” the assertion stated.

It wasn’t known Sunday if Payton has an attorney who could communicate on his behalf.

Payton and two others, brothers Smiley Martin and Dandrae Martin, were charged this month with murder in the slayings, in addition to weapons offenses.

Investigators provided no motive however said in court documents that Smiley Martin and his companions recorded a web-based video hours before the shooting, flashing guns and talking trash from a location in rival gang territory. In it, they state their plans to go to the downtown area with the intent of opening fireplace.

Three males alleged to be gang members and three girls who have been innocent bystanders died in the shootout that occurred as patrons of bars and nightclubs emptied out onto downtown streets. A dozen extra folks have been wounded.

The Martin brothers, who were among the many wounded, stay jailed. Attorneys for the brothers have yet to touch upon their charging.

Payton, who police say is a member of a rival gang, was being held in a Nevada jail pending transport back to California.
