Afghanistan’s supreme chief and Taliban chief on Saturday ordered the country’s ladies to put on the all-covering burqa in public - one of many harshest controls imposed on women’s lives since the Taliban seized energy.
“They need to put on a chadori (head-to-toe burqa) as it's conventional and respectful,” said a decree issued by Hibatullah Akhundzada that was released by Taliban authorities at a function in Kabul.
“These ladies who should not too old or younger should cowl their face, besides the eyes, as per sharia directives, so as to avoid provocation when assembly men who should not mahram (adult shut male kinfolk),” the decree said.
It added that if ladies had no important work exterior it was “better they keep at dwelling.”
During their first regime between 1996 and 2001, the Taliban imposed related restrictions on girls.
