Taliban chief orders girls to wear all-covering burqa in public: Decree

Afghanistan’s supreme leader and Taliban chief on Saturday ordered the country’s ladies to put on the all-covering burqa in public - one of many harshest controls imposed on girls’s lives because the Taliban seized energy.

“They need to put on a chadori (head-to-toe burqa) as it's conventional and respectful,” mentioned a decree issued by Hibatullah Akhundzada that was released by Taliban authorities at a function in Kabul.

“These women who aren't too previous or young should cowl their face, except the eyes, as per sharia directives, as a way to avoid provocation when meeting males who usually are not mahram (adult shut male relatives),” the decree said.

It added that if ladies had no vital work outdoors it was “higher they stay at residence.”

During their first regime between 1996 and 2001, the Taliban imposed comparable restrictions on girls.
