Tesla is recalling about 130,000 automobiles throughout its U.S. model lineup because their touch screens can overheat and go blank.

The recollects covers certain Mannequin S sedan and Mannequin X SUVs from 2021 and 2022, in addition to Mannequin 3 vehicles and Mannequin Y SUVs from 2022.

Documents posted Tuesday by the Nationwide Highway Visitors Security Administration say that in the course of the fast-charging process, the central processing computers may not cool sufficiently. That can trigger the computer to lag or restart, making the center display screen run slowly or appear clean.

Without the middle screen, the vehicles can lose rearview digital camera displays, settings that management windshield defrosters and indicators that say whether the vehicles are in drive, impartial and reverse. That may increase the risk of a crash.

Tesla is fixing the issue with online software program updates that can improve temperature management for the pc. Updates started on Might 3.

Tesla says that it discovered the problem in routine endurance testing. The company has no studies of crashes or accidents, but it acquired 59 associated warranty claims from January to early May.
