Days after at the very least 19 elementary faculty students and two teachers had been killed in a mass shooting at an elementary college in Uvalde, Texas, college students at schools across the country staged walkouts to protest gun violence.

In Michigan, college students at Oxford Excessive Faculty, where a school shooting occurred in November, staged a walkout at 12 p.m. on Thursday. 4 students have been killed within the shooting.

"You see news on daily basis about youngsters getting shot and other people your age dying and it's just extremely unhappy and unbelievable, particularly to see like youngsters younger and children my age," Janoff informed ABC News. "I cant think about that being me; but it is imaginable because it happens so typically."

The 17 year-old says her school's administration was in help of the walkout and he or she hopes the over 200 planned demonstrations throughout the nation ship a clear message that students are a "united front."

A walkout could not necessarily change legislation, Janoff said, but these actions present "students are nonetheless united on this."

She mentioned that although most students aren't sufficiently old to vote, they nonetheless need to see change and are willing to take measures to have their voices heard in politics.

"College students do not must be quiet about it simply because they are a kid," Janoff said.
