A California district legal professional declined to file costs Tuesday in opposition to former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a bodily altercation with another passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Legal professional Steve Wagstaffe made the choice after having reviewed police stories and movies of the April 20 incident. Each the passenger, who has not been identified, and Tyson requested that no prices be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Legal professional’s Office concluded its review of the case involving Mike Tyson at the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he committed a misdemeanor battery in opposition to one other passenger on an airplane whereas waiting on the terminal previous to departure," Wagstaffe stated in a press release.

"Our decision is that we will not file any fees against Mr. Tyson primarily based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These embrace the conduct of the victim leading up to the incident, the interplay between Mr. Tyson and the sufferer, in addition to the requests of each the sufferer and Mr. Tyson that no prices be filed in this case," Wagstaffe mentioned.

The case is now closed.

Cellphone video showed Tyson, 55, appearing to try to punch someone who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson said the person was harassing Tyson. The video did not present what occurred earlier than the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the decision to not file expenses by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and law enforcement agencies "for his or her careful, diligent, and professional work."
