Investigators believe Mtula Payton was one of the alleged gang members who opened fireplace in downtown Sacramento on April 3. He was taken into custody at an house complex, the Sacramento Police Division stated in a statement Saturday evening.

“Las Vegas Metro Police Division worked with our detectives for weeks in an effort to locate Payton,” the statement mentioned.

It wasn’t recognized Sunday if Payton has an lawyer who might speak on his behalf.

Payton and two others, brothers Smiley Martin and Dandrae Martin, have been charged this month with murder in the slayings, in addition to weapons offenses.
