Apple has discontinued the iPod, 20 years after it was released.
The US tech giant stated its iconic music player has been replaced by different units, making the iPod redundant.
Greg Joswiak, Apple's senior vice-president of worldwide advertising, mentioned: "At this time, the spirit of iPod lives on.
"We have integrated an unimaginable music experience across all of our products, from the iPhone to the Apple Watch to HomePod mini, and throughout Mac, iPad, and Apple TV.
"And Apple Music delivers industry-leading sound high quality with support for spatial audio - there is not any higher strategy to enjoy, discover, and expertise music."
In October 2001, Steve Jobs debuted the unique iPod and it was the primary MP3 player that might maintain 1,000 songs and had a 10-hour battery life.
"With iPod, Apple has invented a complete new category of digital music player that permits you to put your whole music collection in your pocket and listen to it wherever you go," he said at the time.
"With iPod, listening to music won't ever be the same once more."
Related MP3 players launched by Microsoft and Sony didn't have the same success because the iPod.
Apple has released 5 versions of its music participant - the Basic, Touch, Shuffle, Mini and Nano.
The company has been slowly killing its iPod range lately, with mobile phone expertise enabling clients to take heed to music companies on their telephones.
In 2014, the classic click on wheel mannequin was discontinued, and the Shuffle and Nano were killed off three years later.
The seventh-generation iPod touch was the only mannequin still on sale immediately.
With out the iPod, there would by no means have been an iPhone or iPod, in line with its inventor Tony Fadell.
