BERKELEY, Calif. - A 16-year-old boy was arrested after recruiting others to take part in a mass faculty capturing that would have included a bombing at Berkeley Excessive Faculty, police say.
The teen was arrested Monday, when he turned himself in to police, Berkeley Police Department mentioned in a press launch. Monday was Memorial Day and there was no college that day.
The boy was arrested on suspicion of possessing harmful machine materials and threatening to commit against the law which is able to result in dying or great bodily injury.
Police mentioned they acquired a tip on Saturday that the boy was recruiting others in plans of a capturing that included explosives. Following the tip, police obtained and executed a search warrant for a residence.
Police didn't say if the teen was a student at Berkeley Excessive College.
Upon executing the search warrant, police said they found parts to explosives and assault rifles, several knives, and electronic objects that might be used to create extra weapons.
At that time, a warrant was obtained for the teenager's arrest.

"College security remains a high precedence for the division," police mentioned in a statement.
Details on whom the teen was trying to recruit were not disclosed. Police said this case stays below investigation.
Berkeley Unified Supt. Brent Stephens advised the school's neighborhood that the district was in close contact with police throughout this investigation.
After police confiscated the teenager's weapon elements, the district relied on police expertise to assess any potential ongoing risk to its faculties. The district communicated with police on the student's whereabouts.
"As added precautions throughout this era, we alerted our administrative and security workers about this investigation and, as is our normal practice, maintained shut contact with our BPD Faculty Useful resource Officer on the Berkeley High College campus," Stephens wrote. "Throughout the investigation interval, we were assured that this individual did not pose a direct threat to the Berkeley Excessive School neighborhood."
The district is conducting their own investigation on this matter.
The district could pursue disciplinary action against the coed.
In addition, a city corridor meeting titled: 'The best way to Talk to Children About College Violence' provided by Alameda County Office of Schooling is scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m.
